So … I’m keeping my goal reasonably wide – that way I can surely be certain of getting some of it right …
Blissful Living.
But – and this is a real stumbling block – I’ve had to start to become very clear about what Blissful Living means to me in my situation.
I’ve been teaching yoga for ages, and only started “Blissful Living” as my business name because I liked the name as a website address and it seemed to make sense.
Over the past few years, however, I’ve come to believe that “Blissful Living” is more than just my yoga business name, but it’s almost like my mission statement for living. I’ve learnt that part of it is about finding and enjoying the small and simple pleasures in my life, when and where they are.
We’ve begun to put some of our dreams in action at home. Karl has built a huge polytunnel where we’re experimenting with different vegetables and salads and thoroughly enjoying the produce. Many of you know that we’ve had chickens for many years, and I’m always looking for ways to make good use of eggs – or find suitable people for my excess production!
We’ve got a herb garden, a compost heap, a woodpile, and a wormery as well as plenty of birds who visit the garden, or fly over. This year Karl has started to keep bees. Every now and then he brings me in bits of honeycomb to look at and small samples of sweet, clear honey to taste. It is humbling to see the bees working away, but a pleasure to grow sweet smelling flowers in case they choose to visit our part of the garden.
So – between us we’re working with nature to grow, reuse, re-integrate our living into a better balance.
I can then sit peacefully for a while and look. I take a deep breath in … sigh it out, and reach inwards to the stillness that rests within. I’m able then to breathe for a while in this quiet, comfortable and safe place.
This surely is Blissful Living …
